Frequently Asked Questions
Is the PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Compression and unlocking run in your browser with pdf-lib and qpdf compiled to WebAssembly. The file stays on your device.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
Photo-heavy PDFs usually shrink the most because images are recompressed and optionally downscaled. Text-only files may only drop a little after stream optimization. If the result is not smaller, the original size is kept.
Can this unlock a PDF if I forgot the password?
No. Unlock only works when you type the correct password. The tool does not crack, guess, or bypass PDF security.
Will the text stay selectable after compression?
Yes. The tool recompresses embedded images and optimizes streams. It does not turn pages into pictures, so text and links stay in the file.
